AVG’s Online Security extension has not been updated in almost a year. Why is development and maintenance of the browser extensions moving so slowly? Please make it a priority to keep the browser stores updated with your latest releases. The extensions currently appear to be significantly behind the current versions and development of your other products.

This needs to be addressed. Customers should not have to rely on outdated browser extensions, especially when they are intended to provide security and protection. AVG Online Security - Chrome Web Store

Hi @kenny_smith,

Thank you for raising this concern. I understand why seeing an extension go a long time without a version update can create the impression that it is outdated.

In the case of AVG Online Security, the browser extension itself is only one part of the protection. The extension relies on AVG’s cloud-based threat intelligence and URL reputation services, which are continuously updated behind the scenes. This means that website safety checks, malicious URL detection, and other protection features continue to use the latest threat data even when the extension version number has not recently changed.

In other words, a browser extension version that has not changed recently does not necessarily mean that its protection data or security detections are outdated.

That said, we appreciate the feedback regarding visible extension updates and release cadence.

For future browser extension feedback, I also recommend posting in the dedicated Browser Extensions section of the community: AVG Browser Extensions - AVG Community

Thanks again for taking the time to share your concerns.
