Hello,
Thank you for contacting AVG Community Support.
We are sorry to hear this. We'll check and help you.
May I know whether you've installed any antivirus application other than AVG on your PC? If yes, then we'd like to clarify this to you.
If you are using anti-virus products on your computer in addition to AVG Antivirus and experience issues with malware detection or system performance, we strongly recommend uninstalling the conflicting product.
It is generally not recommended to use more than one security solution on a single system. They compete for resources, which may result in slowdowns, crashes, or no protection at all.
Then kindly repair AVG using the below article, reboot the PC and check the issue.

Thank you and keep us updated.
This happened, reinstalled the program for other reasons, and it has happened again. The 'daily folder scan' that I have set up, has now hung at 100% a second time. I am going to let it stay that way all day, and see if it runs again tonight. Also, when you click on 'details' it shows a blank screen, so you don't have an option to stop or cancel the scan.
