Thanks! In retrospect, the problem seems to have been caused by the Win 10 upgrade and not by anything AVG did. I pieced together info and downloads from others who were reporting similar problems. With the x64 bit removal tool, several manual uninstalls and deletions and a restart, I was able to get the recovery download to complete, and everything seems to be working. My initial scan is at 78% and looking good.

New licensed Protection removed, when old Antivirus expired. How can I get my Protection 2015 reload? When I try to reload I get to the account screen and it says that the User and Password are in use or don't match. I activated it on 4/01/2015 and it was removed by AVG on July 31st… or there abouts. How can I reload my NEW Protection 2015 and keep it loaded until it actually expires?

Help!!  Does anyone have and actual email address or phone number to contact AVG?
