New Version Sucks

I am in the same boat; up until the latest 2017 update with the "new and improved" UI, I have been unable to figure out what should be the simplest of administrative actions.. I can no longer create white lists, the fields are un-selectable with no explanation as to why.. there are a lot of options relating to TCP/UDP port security now buried in submenus with un-intuitive names.. I just can't stand it anymore

Trying to do something as simple as unblock ICMP has become a monumental and impossible task with the latest 2017 update. I shouldn't have to resort to completely disabling my antivirus protection just to get around something so simple.

the latest update is absolutely terrible and (as far as I'm concerned) un-usable.. and just for added information, I am an IT and software engineer.. so even as someone who should be able to quickly figure out even complicated problems, I quickly lost patience and had luck with the new 2017 update.

AVG has lost another customer, I've already uninstalled and will be using another internet security/antivirus provider. I hope you guys listen to your complaining customers on this one and ditch the interface for something more usable.

I have had AVG since the start. I have recommended it to other people and have installed it on client's machines with great satisfaction.
Tonight I removed AVG from my systems. The new version is not good at all. the free version doesn't have reports so you can see what happened, it doesn't recognize that fact that I have scanned 5 times since I installed the new version and will not do an automatic scan and shutdown. That is among other problems reported to me about false catches, shutdowns and such.
It is a shame to see such a good, trusted program be destroyed just to get a feel good acreen.

AVG was purchased by Avast in 2016. AVG was far better than Avast. Is it any surprise that now that Avast owns AVG, the program is fraught with problems?

I have the pro version and it's horrible always knocking my systems offline, telling me EVERYTHING IS A VIRUS. Then you go to restore the item THAT WAS NOT A VIRUS, check it, try to click restore and it unchecks the file!
Things that ARE NOT VIRUSES!
AusLogic Diskdrag, reg defrag.
Chromium PURE VERSION! (Flag google chrome as a virus and that would be correct!)
Office 2016
Netlimiter about 20 things were just removed! Thank god i have everything backed up by three!
No local network computers show, disable internet security and they show, connect enable repeat when you need to see your computers again!
I hate all the auto settings it's reminds me of that HUGE VIRUS WIndows 10! I don't need AVG to run my computer just protect what I want to protect! I service over 400 computers monthly and have had most of them change to AVG. But the last few days have been a NIGHTMARE. People calling telling me they have no internet, all these things being called VIRUSES THAT ARE NOT! For clients using the free version I just have them un-install and put something else in until I can work on their computers. Clients like me that are using the Pro version. :frowning: I walk them through system restore (so they have internet) then I jump on TeamViewer and un-install it before it upgrades. (the new un-installs for poo!) Then I reinstall the new one and try to find all the SUPER annoying settings that block everything!

It would have been way better if it imported all the users old custom settings into the new version.
I get bumped offline one more time and it's going off mine until it's fixed and I won't be renewing.
12 times today it blovked my internet! Thank god I'm on linux 80% of the day!

Hello Kim,
We regret for the inconvenience caused. Recently we have launched AVG 2017 version with enhanced features. If you feel AVG 2017 version is complicated, we really sorry to know that. In this we would recommend you to submit your feedback http://www.avg.com/product-feedback  through this link, so that our developers will get look into that and we try to enhance better in future updates.
Thank you.

I've been an AVG Business (Paid) customer for over 6 years and have been happy with the performance … until now.  Since the Avast merger and update, AVG has been a total performance killer.  The very reason why I abandoned your competitors in the past was performance and now AVG is actually worse than those because AVG is now AVAST!!!   I remember Avast - I had tried using Avast in the past and dumped it for the VERY SAME REASON - the Avast engine is a performance hog –   Too many processes eating up CPU and memory.  That said, consider this a sincere plea to the developers to please make it AVG again.   I am hopeful that before my license expires next January, that this will happen. If not I promise you, I will move on from you (perhaps even earlier … as will many others I'm sure).

Lastly, please do not reply to my post with lip-service like, " Dear Bob, we are sorry you are unhappy with AVG , blah blah blah. …".   I am not looking for apoligies but rather provide an earnest response with a "DATE" when you will release a new update that fixes this problem (Note:  It is not difficult to do, it is as simple as rolling back to the previous (better) version which is  AVG (not AVAST).      Thank you for listening.

2017 avg is HORRIBLE. a giant STEP BACK IN A ONCE RELIABLE PROGRAM. GOODBYE.

AVG IS NOW A SCAM COMPANY

Hello AVG, I think by now you realize the 2017 version really is awful.
I have been using AVG for 5 years happily until now, I want the auto shut down after a scan back and I want to review the scans when I like.
The options for scans are very limited also.
Yesterday I downloaded Bitdefender which at least lets me do a scan, go to bed knowing the P.C. will
shut down after a scan.
If you come to your senses and listen to long time users about the 2017 version let me know, I might come back.
Regards

AVG IS NOW A SCAM COMPANY

I have been using Norman for many years, and have 15 days left of my subscription.

Purchased an AVG liscense and installed it on one of my computers to test.

Its a barebones pc with almost no programs installed, and AVG have been nothing but trouble.

Sucking up recources, preventing file sharing between computers, preventing rejoining homegroup after i left to try to rejoin, even logging off user/reboot takes forever.

Win 7 ultimate pc with SSD for OS.

Can I have windows firewall resume FW duties ?

Hello Martin,

I am sorry to know that you aren't happy about the new AVG 2017 features.
Please be informed that the appearance and settings will be completely different in 2017 version when compared with older versions hence customers would find it difficult to find certain options.
Regarding the blocking and allowing IP address, I request you to have a look at this article: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-block-or-allow-IP-addresses-in-Firewall . The option is available in 2017 version too.
We are always available 24/7 to help our customers with their concerns.
If you have any concern or feedback about our product please use this link: http://www.avg.com/product-feedback to submit it.

Shallow,
Please check if AVG firewall is configured with below recommended settings or not.

Open AVG Internet Security->Menu->Settings->Components->Firewall->Customize->Network Profile and change it to Private.
Open AVG Internet Security->Menu->Settings->Components->Firewall->Customize->Policies->System Rules and set all rules to "Enabled".

Make sure the above settings are applied and let us know if the issue persist.
