I have a brand new HP Omen. Everything has been working perfectly. I finally decided to try out AVG Driver Updater. It gave me a list of drivers that needed to be updated. When it finished updating everything it restarted the computer. When it came back on, there was no sound and there is a red X beside the speaker icon in the tray area beside the clock. I had not done or used anything else, so it has to be the AVG driver updater. It was working fine just a minute or two before i used the program. i tried to do a system restore, and was setting to a point earlier today before i installed the AVG program. However, it goes through the process a little bit and then restarts and tells me that windows could not access a file and that it is most likely an antivirus program casing the issue. I tried disabling all of the AVG programs but its still the same. There isn't and option in AVG driver updater to undo the updates. There were no warnings of this possibility. But here we are. The drivers show up in device manager but not in settings under sound. Ive tried everything I could think of but if I cant do a restore and I cant undo it, then what am i supposed to do. The computer is only a couple of weeks old, and I had no issues. was working perfectly right up to about 1 or 2 minutes before i used the avg driver updater
