No updates in 10 days?

My Toshiba laptop is running Windows 7 Home & Student Edition and AVG Internet Security (paid until 2017); it shows "Protection is up-to-date, last update 2/23/2016, 2:07am".  The PC has been online, working normally and reliably connected to the Internet during the past ten days.  Clicking on the Protection button to run a manual update gets to 50%, then 60% complete, then returns to the same old Last Update date+time shown above.  Scans and updates are scheduled to run every night, and have been doing so normally, but the Last Update date+time has not changed since Feb.23rd 2016.

Please explain how to fix this, because AVG normally updates at least every day?  I have paid for full protection and want regular updates to maintain security online; thanks!

Thank you, Avinash, for your helpful response.  I ran RepairAVG as suggested on the referenced web page, which took about 15 minutes and a computer restart.  After restart, the repaired AVG took about 15 more minutes to download and install the latest definitions (today, March 4th, 2016).  Things seem to working correctly now, so I will continue to monitor scheduled updates and scans for correct operation.  I appreciate your assistance!
