The situation is getting worse. NOW it is 3 days since the last virus definitions update. I wonder if the people who are using your program have devices that are vulnerable to attacks, due to a stop in the updates? I am sure that many previously unknown viruses were detected in the last 3 days. But without your updates, we are unprotected.
Once again, I am unable to receive virus definitions for my AVG Free Antivirus program. The last one was two days ago. I made a jpeg screen capture of the window, showing the date of the last update, 1/8/2018 9:11:49AM. The jpeg file is on my pc. But there is no way for me to attach it to this post. All my pcs are running the Windows 7 64 bit OS.
Jeffrey,
Please be informed that virus database updates don't have any firm schedule - they are released only when necessary.
However AVG is continuously downloading "streaming updates" which are much smaller and contains new detection, False Positive fixes etc.
This is done to optimize speed of updates and usage of the internet as streaming updates are very small and may contain just one specific update. On the other hand, the virus database updates are big, take longer to download and install and contains all previous updates including streaming ones, major fixes etc.

Jeffrey,
Appreciate your understanding. If you need anything else, do not hesitate to let us know.
In the past, when I reported not seeing updates for two or three days, as soon as I wrote a post on this forum, the updates appeared. This tells me you had a glitch of some type that was corrected as a result of user reports.
Are you stating that there will be times when an update is NOT available for two or three days? Your pattern has been to offer updates once a day, sometimes twice a day. It is unusual that there are no updates for more than a day!

Thank you for providing the screenshot, Jeffrey. I would like to inform you that your AVG program will automatically update the virus definitions. The updates might not be released always and is a Normal behavior. Once a new virus definition released it will automatically be updated on your computer.

Thank you for the elaboration on how AVG posts their virus definitions updates. It was a good education for me. I always thought that every antivirus program manufacturer had so many new viruses reported on a daily basis, that they had to post daily updates to protect the devices of their customers. The fact that you posted daily updates most of the time, made no sense to me when updates were not posted for two days and then three days. That is why I started the thread.
Right after I wrote the post above, I did an AVG Repair from the Windows 7 Control Panel of my desktop pc. Today's update appeared as soon as the repair was completed. I was about to do a repair on my Lenovo laptop and noticed that today's update appeared. I did not do the repair. I know that you fixed the problem at about the same time…
Why didn't AVG post an update for 3 days? Did you have a problem?
