Not asking for a renewal and still debited my creditcard

We also see that the automatic renewal is cancelled in your account, so you will be charged by AVG in future.

I switched to another product and I am not renewing my subscription as I was used to do previously.
To my surprise AVG debited my creditcard for the next renewal and when I tried to cancel AVG cancelled the subscription after 2 years, thus in 2019.
I my opinion this is not fair as I did not ask for a renewal and I have also not installed the new version of AVG, neither I have used the new license codes.
How to avoid this action and the withdrawal of my creditcard?
AVG says they do not keep my creditcard data, but how can they make my creditcard debited. 
Please help otherwise I am paying for two products, when only purchasing for one?
