Hello Richard,
Do you have multiple user on your PC?
We can understand that you have already uninstalled Avast and trying to shred the remaining parts using AVG Shredder but it says it couldn't be done because you don't have enough access rights to shred that file.
This can happen when some of the services of Avast program is still running in the background process.
Please check for it and also try deleting the Avast left over files by booting your PC into Safe Mode.
This should help for sure, to boot your PC into Safe Mode please follow the instructions mentioned in this link: http://avgread.me/1JwmD6g .
Please feel free to contact us should you need any assistance.
