Not Happy with AVG Support

Hello, Roger. You must have contacted our premium technical support which is a paid service. They can assist you with any kind of technical issues on your device apart from issues related to AVG, if purchased a plan. If you are a paid user of AVG, you are entitled to receive free technical assistance and you can reach them from this web page: http://avgclick.me/AVGtechnical .

I am an AVG Ultimate subscriber.  Yesterday, one of my browsers [Microsoft Edge] became frozen with a red screen filled with ominous warnings and instructions to call a phone number.  I did not. Rather, after turning off the computer to shut down the frozen browser, I restarted and ran an AVG scan.  No result and the red screen returned when I opened the browser, so I called AVG for assistance.
The first sign that I was going to be scammed by AVG was that the technician began by trying to sell me driver updating software for $39.99.  Then she informed me I would have to pay AVG $119 for advanced technical support to have my problem resolved.
I declined and called Microsoft.  The technician there immediately recognized that my problem was not a virus but a "Pop Up" and resolved it - for free - in about 3 minutes.  Why did AVG not provide the same service to a paid subscriber?  Incompetence, greed or scam?

Sorry . . . your response does not cut it.

First of all I called the general support number with my request and was specifically advised that I would need to be transferred to advanced support.  Moreover, as a subscriber, if I somehow contacted the wrong number – which I did NOT – I should have been advised that I was entitled to free support, not given a sales pitch for a driver update app and a bait and switch to "premium" support.

I happen to like AVG and have used both the free (initially) and paid service for a number of years on various devices.  I will devote my time during the balance of my subscription to finding another provider and encouraging others to do so as well!

I don't have a record of the number I called, but it makes no difference.  Even assuming I called your so called "premium" number they should have told me I had access to free support as a paid subscriber (which I clearly informed them I was) rather than trying to sell me things.  Moreover, had I fallen for the bait and switch it would have been a complete and utter rip off, given that microsoft resolved the issue for free in minutes.  Perhaps yo uguys can just admit you screwed up!
