I never heard back, but the notifications stopped a few days after my last post.
I have worked on this machine 7 days a week, 12 hours a day for 9 years without a single issue (I swear it's true) but eversince this happened, my PC is unstable, it keeps crashing and there's one problem after the next. I would like to turn off AVG unless I browse the internet, but then I would want to turn it on manually. I definitely don't want it to start up together with windows anymore as it has prevented my computer from booting 3x already (I know this was caused by AVG) However, I can't find a setting. Please advice!
Thank you in advance!
Best wishes,
Diana
Hi Screedevi,
Just to be safe… the files I sent were analysed and my PC is not infected, correct?
I have not tried to exclude them and will wait doing so until I know the answer to the above.
Again… many thanks for all of the help and prompt replies! I can honestly say that I'm truly impressed (and grateful as well!!)
Diana
Thank you so much for the prompt response Sreedevi!! MUCH appreciated!
I have already submitted the sample with some additional info. I just found out the object name for 3 of the two files are identical. The other one has the exact same name, except for the very last digit before .exe
The file provided as a sample reads A0437070.exe where the other one reads A0437071.exe.
I hope you are able to tell me what to do. Thank you again!
Best wishes,
Diana

Hi Sarath,
Well, I don't think the screenshot will be of any use as it only shows that a service was not able to load. I KNOW that it was AVG as it always loads this folder, which now did not load.
Also, I found that AVG is very persistant these days. I have it on my new PC also. So an hour ago, I got 5 popups showing with things I do not want. However, clicking "decline" will only have AVG move forward as if I had clicked the "continue" button. For instance one of the notifications read to install chrome. I don't want chrome, so I clicked on the "decline" button, only for the next "progress" screen to show with what options I would like to install also. Well, I hit "decline" as I did not want to install anything. As per usual, there's no way of closing the install window, so I had to shut down the machine with the on/off button to get rid of it.
Then with the next boot (please note we are talking about a different computer here, with windows 7 and the latest version of AVG free installed) I got another popup with some advertisement. I clicked it away, but only half of the popup vanished, the rest remained there, blocking everything. This happens on both my PC's and I truly feel that all the issues I am seeing for the past weeks are caused by AVG.
So again… please let me know how to disable AVG instead of uninstalling it.
Important is that I do not want AVG to start when booting my PCs and I keep having to reboot all the time due to these AVG issues.
Hi Gunaseelan,
I'm copying the email I just sent!
(quote)
First I would express my appreciation for all the efforts made! Thank you!
I downloaded the tool and let it run, but when it was finished I got an error message of which I made a screenshot.
I wrote a lenghtly description of the issues in the comment field, but after saving everything it all vanished. I tried to attach files, but instead they were showing in the comment box. Before I tried to attach a screenshot, but AVG auto selected a file (I think it was called "screenshot_001) that I was not able to see or remove, so I have no idea what you will see, but it's not what I wanted to send to you. I will upload the 3 files here. The image of my computer has additional information as well. It's written on the image.
Kind regards
Diana
I just submitted the other 7 notifications I received since my previous reply.
Will you let me know here if I can remove the file or through email?
Best wishes,
Diana
Just wanted to add that I keep getting one notification after another for the same file (the one with the 70.exe number, not the 71.exe one.
I keep ignoring it so it moves to the quarentaine, but half an hour later the popup is there again.
It all started after having done a full computer scan earlier that day (not sure if it's related but I thought I mention it since it did not find these files then and I did not download anything or visit websites other then "the usual" over that period of time.
