Dave, For removal info have you 'googled' remove National Security Agency malware?..
No AV product is capable of providing you with 100% protection although AVG are always working 24/7.

AVG would recommend to start with uninstalling all unknown/unused programs and browser addons.

Thanks for your quick response!  Sounds like AVG can't help me with this issue, at this time.  I have already taken the suggested steps, before posting, or the ones that apply, as well as a few others.  I'll just wait and see if it's really dead, I suppose.  Thanks, again!

I was browsing with Internet Explorer, when a popup came up with the National Security Agency malware.  It locked up my browser, and I could not close the window, even using Task Manager.  I ran a scan with AVG, but nothing was detected.  Next, I logged out of Windows, and when I logged back in, the browser was no longer locked.  I took a good look around my system, to see if there were any remains of this malware, waiting to cause problems later, or possibly to sniff the keyboard or something, but found nothing obvious.

Are any further concerns necessary, or can I assume that this malware only affected the browser, and by unlocking it through logging off/on to Windows, everything is now fine?

Also, why did AVG not protect me from getting hijacked in the first place, or detect and remove the malware after I had become infected?
