After talking to customer support and trying several things, they finally pointed me to the link https://app.avg.com/us-en/code, which worked to activate the license with my AVG account. I needed a reboot before the apps would refelct the license properly.
This links is nowhere in the documentation provided with the purchase of the code and apparently this code won't activate via the app itself. Please fix your documentation in the future and save your potential customer some grief next time.

I have a AVG Performance 2015 Performance License purchased months ago that was purchased from Newegg that was never able to figure out how to enter. I finally found the AVG Tuneup activation code wizard, but it does not recognize the code!
The format of the license is XXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXX which appears different from the instructions shown on the AVG website. How do I activate this product?
You completely misunderstand. I purchased AVG Performance 2015 separately from the AVG Protection I current have activated. I was never able to activate this separate Performance license, because the program does not recognized. This Performance license was purchased at Newegg. When I attempt to register the sales code ont he website, it says its already been registered. Is there a way to resolve this? I have never used this code. If I call tech support, can they see if the code is valid and whether it was used by some one else? (stolen)
