Opening Ports AVG Free

Hello Haydon.
We're here to help. You seem to be looking at the instructions for older version AVG. Please note that AVG AntiVirus free does not include Firewall protection. We'd request to add the software to AVG exceptions as shown in this article.

If you need anything else, do not hesitate to let us know.

Haydon, as informed in our previous message, AVG AntiVirus free does not include a firewall component. To further narrow down this issue, please disable individual components in AVG AntiVirus free and let us know which component is causing the issue.

Hi Haydon,

It is possible that AVG Antivirus FREE file is corrupted, let's reinstall the AVG program and check the status.

Refer the article to uninstall and install AVG Antivirus FREE: https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Reinstall-AVG

Hello,  I am using AVG free which has been great.  However i am noticing that AVG free is preventing one of my programmes from connecting to the web.  i have to turn off AVG, open the program and then open it again.  the support for my S/W asked me IT to open the ports and add their IP's and Ports to it.

AVG help shows i have to go to menu->settings-> components, but i don't have components.  Is it possible for me to add these exceptions?

Thanks for replying.  I followed these instructions and i've added the S/W to the exceptions list, however this is not what i'm looking for.  the S/W loads fine, however it's my inability to log in/connecto to the server that is the issue.  when i disable AVG, it connects fine.  i can enable avg again and everything still works.  If i somehow lose my connection, in order to re-login i have to disable AVG again to do so.

The S/W support sent me this:

"Beside, please ensure following  server IPs and Ports are added as a whitelist in proxy/firewall.
IPs : 202.62.192.0 to 202.62.223.255  (Or 202.62.192.0/19)
Ports:  80, 443, 62001."

I've narrowed it down to the Web Shield component.
