so, whqt you are saying is that i have to turn off VPN when i want to send out a mail??? then what is the use of having VPN?Rreading this thread here, leaves me the impression that this product is not mature yet (or not well tested?) . when can we expect a bugfix?
i did as you advised: i uninstalled the entire AVG software, and reinstalled it. Still the same error: when VPN is on, i cannot send out any emails thru Ouitlook. Please advise with a bugfix, otherwise a refund. (i am working on a production machine, so urgency is clue!). Until then, as a consultant i advise my clients NOT to install AVG software, as it does not perform as promised and advise them to go for other VPN solutions.

This isn't the experience we want you to have, Erik.
Sometimes, this might happen due to the server (location) to which you're connected through Secure VPN. Please ensure that you're connected to optimal location through Secure VPN & then attempt to send emails.
If issue persists, please disable AVG protection (AVG Internet Security) temporarily as suggested by our colleague in the previous message to check if it has any impact on Secure VPN program.

Thank you for writing back, Erik
In this case, keep the AVG SecureVPN turned on and temporarily disable the AVG using the below article :

Let us know if you are still facing the issue.
