I have had ongoing problems with Outlook 2016 in that it works fine until some time around early afternoon and then it stops replicating between the client and the server.

The error  is quite common:
Task 'Synchronising subscribed folders for susie@visitpewseyvale.co.uk' reported error (0x800CCC0E) ' Outlook cannot synchronise subscribed folders for susie@visitpewseyvale.co.uk. Error: Cannot connect to the server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or internet service provider (ISP).

The only way to get the connection back is to power down the PC completely and restart - very disruptive!

Having trawled through so many forums I can't being to count, I came across someone who said they had resolved the problem by switching off Email cover on AVG.  Obviously this isn't ideal, but I gave it a go and lo and behold, replication worked.  I went back in to AVG and switched the Email cover back on and it still seems to work.  This is ok as a work around, but is there a fix from AVG for this?  Does anyone know why this is happening?

Interesting - I have gone into the Control Panel and then into Security and I have two AVG status messages - Spyware & Unwanted Software Protection  is out of date with a button that says 'Update Now' and Virus Protection (the same).  Clicking on these buttons, it comes up to say do I want to run the program and I click on Yes and then nothing happens and the status doesn't change.  I can't see an option to repair.
