I will be happy to try these steps when I know why I’m taking them - how turning them off for 10 minutes will solve my problem, as it is an intermittent one . Please explain. Thank you
On a regular basis, Outlook 365 on a Windows 10 laptop stops downloading new emails. On one of my accounts, Outlook starts the download process but gets stopped (freezes) at the synchronization step. Closing and re-opening Outlook doesn't help - I have to fully reboot my laptop. This happens a few times a week and is annoying. When this happens, Outlook also won't close properly and must be forced to close
From what I've read on this forum, I believe it may be AVG interfering with the downloading. Microsoft could find no problem from their end.
I use the free AVG. (This never was a problem with AVAST…)
Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks
Since the problem is intermittent (sometimes once a day, sometimes 3-4 times a week), I'm concerned about how long I need to be unprotected to see if AVG is the problem. I understand why you are asking, but I don't want to go days without virus protection. I will think about what to do. Thanks for your help.
Hi Dorothy.
We'd be glad to look into this.
To narrow down the issue to AVG, let us disable individual shields in AVG AntiVirus free and verify the issue.
Click this link for steps to disable individual components.

I'd request you to do this when you experience this issue next time and report back the results.
We are available 24/7 to help you.
Dorothy, if the emails downloaded successfully when AVG AntiVirus free is disabled, we can conclude that the issue is caused by AVG and proceed for further troubleshooting.
If the issue persists even after disabling AVG protection, it must be something else that is causing the issue.
So it the reason we requested you to disable AVG protection temporarily and verify the issue.
