Outlook email plugin causing outlook to become non-responsive

For help on your issue please disable Outlook plugin and use personal email scanner instead.

I'm using outlook 2013 and the email plugin is causing it to sloooow down or become non-responsive when scanning incoming emails. Twice outlook has disabled the plugin. If I reboot it will be fine for awhile but then will start acting up. How do I solve this problem.
