Outlook not connecting after latest AVG update

Hi, thanks for responding, but I don't feel you actually read my post ??

The issue is that, since the update to AVG, I can only get Outlook to work if I do actually turn off AVG protection. This means that in order to just get my email down load I have to do without any AVG protection for every thing,

This is not an acceptable position, the product worked together happily until today.

The problem is that the firewall is not allowing access to the right ports. Click on Internet Security, then Menu in top right, click on Device Settings, Components, then Firewall. Then click on Application Rules, click on Microsoft corporation, scroll down until you find Oulook then selec the post that you need or (not sure if this is safest to do) select all ports. Outlook now works.

I had the same issue and had to figure this out on my own because the documentation online is not up to date for the 2017 version.

Hi,

As part AVG Ultimate, I'm running AVG Internet Security. I have just had an auto upgrade of AVG IS to build 17.3.3011.

I have 2 laptops, one a HP, one a Samsung, both running latest build of Windows 10. Since the upgrade & restart competed on both machines, Outlook 2016 fails to connect to my mail servers (a mix of O365 & basic Outlook.com accounts) unless I turn off all protection.

Outlook is unable to connect & continues to show a status of "trying to connect". Only when I shut down Outlook, disable all AVG protection, & restart Outlook, will it then connect for the duration of active session. If I then turn AVG protection back on, whilst outlook is still ruining & connected, outlook remains connected. If I then restart Outlook with AVG protection on, I then go through the same "try to connect" cycle again…

I have tried rebooting my laptops, repairing/uninstalling/reinstalling Office/Outlook & repairing/uninstalling/reinstalling AVG, even using the AVG Removal tool before reinstalling, The result is the same every time, as long as both AVG & Outlook are installed together, Outlook fails to connect with protection switched on.

This problem is consistent across both, very different, laptops & definitely did not exist until the lasted update auto installed !!

Regards,
Ian

I had similar issue after updating AVG to version 17.6.3029 may outlook stopped conecting. I found a simple solution that worked. Just add the SMTP port 587 (TLS) in the list of secure ports in AVG configuration followed by a reboot.

Menu -> Settings -> Troubleshooting -> Redirection Settings -> SMTP Port (s): 25,587 Secure Port (s): 465,587.

Hi Ian,
I understand your concern and To check with the issue I will suggest you to disable the AVG and then check with the Outlook issue.
Thank you.
