Debra,
We regret the inconvenience, we see that you have AVG Internet Security which is activated using license number. But your control panel seems to have AVG Zen unlimited version, both are different programs.
We need to uninstall all the old traces and proceed with the re-installation. Please download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe. This tool will help with removing antivirus component of AVG 2017 and its traces.
1.Open tool
2.User Account control - click "Yes"
3.Windows safe mode - click "No" (we cannot recommend use the tool in safe mode, because there is a problem with compatibility)
4.Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
5.Click "Uninstall"
6.Click "Restart computer"
After restart, run AVG Remover http://avgclick.me/UninstallAVGAV and remove all other supported products and remnants of AVG (ZEN, Framework).
Recently had an AVG update. Since then, nothing but troubles. It appears nothing is working. Everything is "red" when I click to open AVG. It says: "AVG is now in passive mode. Another antivirus is running on your PC. I click on "fix now" and it says: "You have another antivirus program (AVG Antivirus) installed on this computer. If you turn off passive mode with AVG antivirus still on your computer, we'll get in each other's way. Uninstall it now to avoid any issues." There is then a hyperlink to click on which says: "Uninstall AVG Antivirus". This takes me to the programs. There is no "AVG Antivirus" listed. There is an AVG and an AVG Protection. Which one do I remove? I am so frustrated. Love AVG because of it's simplicity. But this has me pulling my hair out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I actually contacted AVG support on line, but the technician I got could not spell or express themselves well, and when they asked if they could remotely access my computer, I said no and cancelled the chat.
