Hi Mindy,
I am sorry to hear that.
What is current state? Does compter boot into windows and than password is requested? Is password request Microsoft one? Screenshot(photo) could help us identifi that.
Thanks
A few months ago my 81 year old father who uses AVG to protect his computer (Vista Home OS) received a popup message saying that AVG had detected multiple problems with his computer and to click here to fix them. He did that and apparently was taken to a third party scammer site that told him to contact them immediately to get instructions on how to "clean up" his computer. Thinking he was speaking to an AVG support tech, he did just that and gave them remote access to his computer along with his credit card information etc. While they were supposedly "fixing" his computer he called to tell me what was going on (he lives in Iowa and I live in California) I did a quick research on the info he gave me and realized that he was being scammed. He called the credit card company and explained everything to them and they cancelled his card. Up until a few days ago everything seemed to be working as usual. Yesterday he tried to go on his computer and has discovered that he has been locked out of it. My research tells me that it is most likely this outfit that scammed him. We have tried everything to get in to his computer, but unfortunately I think he's dead in the water. Anyone else experience this and if so, is there any hope of recovering his computer? He did not make any password backup disks
