Password protection and security reports

Hello Steve,

I understand your concern. Please be informed that this warning indicates about the saved passwords in your browser and their security level. If you do not wish to receive any pop-up campaign from AVG, follow the steps below stop this AVG pop-up from your computer.

Open AVG Internet Security->Menu->Settings->General->Pop-up->Uncheck the option "Show pop-ups related to other AVG programs"

Once this is done, it will stop all the AVG campaign pop-ups completely from your computer.

AVG flagged up -in a pop up window- that I had 40+ passwords at risk, and prompted me to install their password protection programme. However, it didn't specify which they were.

Firstly, I think it's a poor show to flag up a warning and not give at least an example of what the problem is if they expect you to cough up more cash for a fix.

Secondly, I am extremely sceptical that there is a problem in the first place as I have been using a top of the line password manager for over a year. This makes the warning seem very much like scareware to me and I would have expected better from AVG. It's just like their so called "monthly security report", full of figures and no way to drill down or get any specifics on the "threats" AVG has supposedly protected you against.

Am I being too harsh on AVG, or does this smell a little bit like a scam?
