Password Protection keeps turning off

We understand your concern.

This isn't the experience we would like you to have. We will consider this as a feedback and improve the program.

We are glad to know that the issue has been resolved.

Let us know, if you need further help.

Gary, we certainly understand this is a disruption every time you restart the PC. We'd request you to run AVG Clear tool to reinstall AVG Internet Security and this issue will be resolved.

I'd also like to inform that you can backup the current program settings and restore them after reinstallation. Open AVG Internet Security, click Menu -> Settings -> General -> Troubleshooting.
On the right hand side, you should see an option to backup the settings. You can restore from the same place after reinstalling.

Hello,
Just wondering if there is a fix so that I do not have to turn on Password Protection every time I restart my computer. Been going on for a while and a reinstall did nothing to help it. Any solutions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
R,
Jay
Yes Gary. Our developers are working on the process of fixing it. It will be fixed soon in the upcoming updates. We really appreate your patience.
Hi Jay,

We're glad to look into this & help you.
Please  let us know the version of AVG that is installed on your computer (Open AVG - Menu - About) & help us with the below requested info :
1) When did the issue start? (when you saw the issue for the first time? e.g. after update etc.)
2) Does enabling the component or clicking on "Turn on" solve the issue?
3) Does restart solve the issue?
Also, share us the screenshot of the page that shows Password protection as disabled.

Today there was an update "21.1.3164 build 21.1.5968.643". The problem has NOT been rectified. Also, I have setting turned on to notify when update is available, and yet the update happened automatically overnight!

Uninstalled, re-installed & imported settings & now all good.
I spent most of my working life as a programmer & systems analyst, and we would NEVER let this happen like this. As soon as a bug like this cropped up, we IMMEDIATELY fixed it & issued a new version. It seems these days some companies don't really care about their customers!

Thanks for answer. Until the fix happens I think I'll just remember to turn the password option back on each time I reboot the PC. I must admit I'm sick of fixing AVG problems by removing & re-installing as I have done multiple times in the past - I then have to redo stuff like seting up scheduled scans etc.
I trust when an updated version is released, that will fix the problem without having to remove/re-install.

Hello Dinesh,
Software Version: 21.1.3164 (build 21.1.5968.639)
UI Version: 1.0.590

To answer your questions:
1) I am not sure when it started doing this, but it has been going on for several months at least.
2) Enabling the Password Protection component will turn it on, but is not permanent.
3) Restarting does not solve the issue. Every time I restart it turns the component off again.
