Password Required To Make Changes for Quarantine

Hello Melih. Thank you for the update.

Feel free to write back with any future occurring disruption, and to share any supporting screenshot of the experienced disruption, will be most helpful.

In the interim, stay safe and well. All the Best, Shawn

Hi Shawn,

By the time I saw your response the scanning of the NAS drive was completed.  For this reason I do not have a screenshot to send you.

The password prompt is in a separate window and does not necessarily overlay over the AVG app.

I started deleting the quarantined files after the scanning was complete.  There too I was prompted for the password over and over again.  During this process, the system was processing roughly 1000 quarantined files at a time before asking for the password.

I have a weekly scanning scheduled of all files including those on my NAS drive.  I am sure this will come up again.  I will share whatever information I come across.

Thanks for working through this.

Hello,

I can appreciate your suggestion to uninstall and then re-install the app.  Considering this was just installed recently, I would not expect to have any issues with the installation.

The issue of having to enter the password multiple times on the Mac seems to occur each time the AVG app is trying to write some information on the local machine.  It looks like it is quarantining a certain number of threats…after it reaches a number of quarantined threats it writes something to the local machine.  I can see that it is keeping track of the threats it has quarantined.  Makes sense.

I did verify that in System Preference > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Full Disk Access that AVG is listed and checked.  This is why the need to keep entering the password doesn't make sense.

The need for the Mac to keep asking for the password each time it is writing to the disk would indicate the problem has to be that the AVG app on the Mac has a conflict with the operating system.

Don't you think?

Hi Everyone,

We're on a Mac…running AVG IS…recently installed in the past couple of months…we have a paid subscription…version 19.6.

Once a scan is complete and there are multiple threats…as the threats are quarantined…a window appears to enter the Mac password.  Once it is entered all is well.

Then…a little while later…the password request comes again.

Why is it that we need to enter the password multiple times to have threats quarantined?

This is a problem when you let the system run overnight when you're expecting things to be done when you wake up.  Rather you're having to fuss with these password requests.

…and yes…I did run this on our NAS drive…there were quite a number of threats that were found.  That part is great to see (equally sad to see).

Thanks for your feedback.

Hi,

Let me add some more information…it looks like it is asking for the password roughly every 5 minutes after it quarantines anywhere from 100 - 150 threats.

Yes, I have quite a number of threats after having my older NAS drive scanned.

I love your product in terms of its capabilities…this issue of entering the password every five minutes has gotten old.

Hope this helps.
