…and they were not added, unfortunately. I'll have to add them manually once again, and probably every time the software gets updated (because it will delete them). Guess someone at AVG personally hates start menu shortcuts.
Hello. No, I'm talking about the Start Menu shortcuts that AVG has removed for Windows 8/8.1 users.
Hello Alex. Sorry to hear that. Have you optimized your PC using AVG PC TuneUp? If yes please follow the instructions mentioned in this link: http://avgread.me/1PRjWyU. Please feel free to contact us again should you need any further assistance.
Now that the Start Menu makes a comeback with Windows 10, hopefully AVG will restore the "All functions" start menu shortcuts that were inexplicably removed from Windows 8/8.1.
I recently found out that they are still available for Windows 7 users of AVG PC TuneUp. That's weird.

Hi Alexandros, may I know whether you wish to use the Modify Windows Settings and Change Windows Appearance options , under Personalize tab in AVG PC Tune Up installed in windows 8 ?

Thanks Balasubramanian but there isn't much to do about this. The Start Menu shortcuts (not icons) are what you see in the previous screenshot. Yes, Windows 8/10 are different (not that much really) but they still use the same shortcuts in the exact same folder (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs) and all applications use them. AVG PC TuneUp removed them from there, and only has a selection of quick links in the TuneUp tray icon (Favorite Tasks). Windows 10 actually brought the Start Menu back, so why aren't the shortcuts back?
If we want to open the Duplicate Finder for example, instead of pressing the Windows button, typing "dupl" and hitting enter, we have to first open the main TuneUp window (the Integrator), wait for it to open, then press with the mouse the Clean tab, and then go to "Find an remove duplicate files". A waste of time.
There is a manual solution to all this but it's a waste of time for the user, since it'd be extremely easy for AVG to bring back the shortcuts, even as an option if they don't want to include them by default.
I'll upload the shortcuts once again if anyone wants them (I think they work for both 32/64-bit Windows, not 100% sure), but it's really AVG's job to finally fix this.
