Phone no longer registered device + Anti-Theft Unlock

I changed my sim card and got the anti-theft password screen after switching the phone back on. I couldn't remember my password so I logged into my AVG account where there is an option to change the password. I entered a new password and waited for the progress bar to fill up. Once it was full, I got a message pop up saying that the password change had failed. When I clicked OK and went back to the account page, it sais I do not have any devices registered. So I managed to remember my old password and enter it on the anti-theft screen but it is not working. Please help!
