Pinging my own computer

Please change the network profile of your AVG Internet Security from 'Public' to 'Private'. Refer to this article for detailed instructions.
Also, enable the "Internet connection sharing mode" & the following Enhanced Firewall system rules:

  1. Allow Windows File and Printer sharing
  2. Allow remote desktop connections to this computer

Let us know if the issue persists after performing the above troubleshooting steps.

avg ultimate…
while protection is on, I am able to Ping another pc on my network AND get to the internet.
If I turn OFF AVG (temporarily), I am able to "ping" my own pc.
if I turn ON protection, when I Ping, I get "General Failure"
tearing my hair out over this.
p.s. i am using a Static wireless connection thru my Netgear R8000 router.
please help. thanks in advance.
