Pinterest url opens automatically

I have AVG Internet Security Software.
The AVG scan does not show any viruses but when my browser(Edge) is opened, three new tabs open up in the browser window without me clicking with url pointing to https://www.pinterest.com/ct.html but page blank.

I have googled for a solution but not able to understand why this is happening and how I can stop this. Please let me know if I need to clean up anything .Thank you

Thanks for the reply.
I do not have any other browser installed in my laptop at the moment, so the issue mentioned is seen in Edge as I am using only this.
I had never opened that website earlier.
Yes, done reset of Microsoft edge.
A while back, again 3 tabs opened up with the url Pinterest ct (https://www.pinterest.com/ct.html" id="ext-gen40" style="color:#015ba7; text-decoration:none; font-family:Verdana; font-weight:normal" target="_blank) but page blank

Are you facing this issue in only Microsoft Edge browser or in all browsers?
Did you try to access this website before on this Microsoft Edge browser?

Hi Sujaya,

Thank you for sharing the screenshot.
We would request you to check with the Microsoft Edge browser settings.
Open Edge browser, click on thee dots at the top and click on "Settings".
Under settings, click on "Start, home and New Tabs".
In the sub menu, you can see "When Edge starts",  select the option "Open the new tabs page".
This will fix the issue and in case, if the issue persist we will provide you an additional AVG support.

We really appreciate your efforts. If you choosen Pinterest addon in Edge, you might face these kind of issues. Refer the below steps to remove it from Edge settings :

  1. Open Edge.
  2. Click on the menu button with three dots, or press Alt+F.
  3. Click on the Settings item
  4. Go to Settings > Privacy and Services.
  5. Under Services, turn on or off the Show suggestions from Pinterest in Collections option

Thank you for your response.
I have checked this setting of Pinterest and it is already 'Off'.
I do not login Pinterest too.
I still doubt that this issue has started from the time smart captcha solve virus was clicked.
Please help.
