Thanks Alan.
I have in the meantime installed and run adwcleaner_3.310 and can no longer find any trace of either the WindowsManagerProtect or ClearThink adware viruses. I hope that's the end of the saga and that the information I've provided contributes to AVG's inclusion of a remedy for both viruses in a definition update in the not too distant future.
I can see you're a busy man in the forum - appreciate your contribution to enhancing the robustness of the product we have spent our hard earned on! :-)
Regards,
Michael.
Michael, For info have you 'googled' the statements you've been receiving?. No AV product is capable of providing you with 100% protection although AVG are always working 24/7.
Have a look @ these 2 articles…

Since visiting an online MP3 streaming site my PC has been afflicted wih a continuous stream of pop up ads that occupy 3 separate windows at the bottom of the screen. The most common of these are
- "Windows update Restart your computer to finish installing importent (sic) updates" Restart now/Postpone
- "System Alert Suspicious files may have been found Your PC is running slower than usual. It is recommeded that you repair PC errors immediately"
- "Your computer is about to crash..."
Any tips, tricks, suggestions most welcome as my user experience is singularly unpleasant at the moment!
Thanks in adavance, Michael.
