Hello Mike, You might have installed some adware programs unknowingly along with the installation of other programs. For your information no antivirus program is capable of providing you with 100% protection with this type of adware programs although AVG are always working 24/7. These adware programs should be removed manually. I would recommend you to start with uninstalling all unknown/unused programs and browser addons.

I just downloaded the AVG PC Tuneup, Virus protection and Internet Security packages (the paid not free versions). I continue to get barraged with popup ads and fake web browser updates. It is close to making my laptop unuseable. Are these packages supposed to prevent this problem? If so, what do I do to enable them. If not (boy is that disappointing), then what will. I use Mozilla Firefox and have Ighome as my homepage. Thanks
