Possible bug report, re: stealing focus

Other user Chuck R posting (https://support.avg.com/answers?id=906b0000000DeU4AAK). To keep everything together you should really have posted in this topic.
Chuck, In future please try to keep the whole conversation in one question/thread to speed up any resolution.

I have the same issue. In my case avguix.exe keeps stealing focus every 10 min.
Here is the log from the diagnostic utility focus.exe with the relevant events highlights:

well, their reply posted before mine cleared the review. so thanks, hope they can find and fix this problem. Although, have reinstalled AVG again (custom mode, no web tune up) and been typing an email on yahoo for a while, and it hasn't lost focus yet. but it did that once before too (went a whole day and evening ok), and next day it was back to losing focus after nothing had been changed. will report if it starts happening again…

I am having this same problem as well. Almost exactly every 10 minutes, it switches focus to avguix.
Help would be appreciated

so following up after a week of the last install…and good news, it hasn't lost focus yet, so either some update fixed it, or something that went wrong in previous installs went right the last time, or who knows. Keeping my fingers crossed…

Am starting a new thread on this, as my other one is being ignored for days now, and I've narrowed down the problem to AVG Free 2017.

If there's an email address or another place to report bugs, please let me know.

My System: 32 bit Windows 7 pro, HP desktop, using Fireox 51.0.1 and sometimes IE 11. Have Spybot S&D, and spyware blaster, and Adblockplus. No FF add-ons that should be affecting this problem.
Do NOT Have AVG PC Tuneup.
Have NOT tried things in Safe Mode, it screws up my desktop.

Problem: Something in AVG is stealing focus from any application I have open. Happens with both browsers, email, windows explorer etc, just anything I have open will lose focus every couple minutes. No new window is showing, so can't see what it is. Task Manager is no help, and I haven't tried any of the little programs that are supposed to help detect this yet (like MS Process Monitor). Focus stays gone until I click on the page again, so whatever it is doesn't time itself out.

After looking at tons of google search results, and stopping various background programs etc. with no cure, I finally uninstalled AVG Anti-Virus Free 2017 and the problem stops. I noticed it started the first time I installed it last week, and have done that 2 times now, so pretty sure it's AVG doing this.

Checking the Event Viewer>Windows Logs>Applications as others suggested finds various error messages related to AVG, and it appears they coincide with the focus stealing, although I didn't write down the exact times.

Currently I do NOT have AVG Free installed, but will do that later today so I have protection, but this focus stealing in annoying.

So I found multiple instances in the event viewer report of these, so maybe AVG can find out what's going on:

"Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards.  "

That's all I know at the moment. Surely I can't be the only W7 user with AVG 2017 with this problem?

I am currently having an issue with avguix.exe stealing focus. I used a program that logs what currently has focus to track down that avguix.exe was the culprit. I checked the Event Viewer as how Chuck R mentioned in the first post of this thread, but I don't have any major errors or any entries anywhere near the times that the focus loss happens.

Fortunately the focus logger did let me know one pattern of behavior. avguix.exe seems to steal focus pretty much exactly every 20 min.

I am running Windows 10 Pro x64, and here is the AVG info from the AVG About page:
Build Number: 1.162.2.62416
AVG Network: Not connected

AVG Antivirus Free version: 17.2.3419.0
AVG Framework version: 1.172.2.61689
AVG Setup version: 1.172.2.61624

If you need any additional info, please let me know and I will try my best to help provide what is needed.

Alan,
I'm aware of the protocol, and I WOULD have kept this in the old thread if AVG would respond, but got tired of waiting for DAYS for more response, so figured maybe a new post would get their attention. I'm about to download AVG again so will be doing that for 20 minutes…

they don't seem to want, believe, or be able to fix the bug that makes some people's posts appear more than once, as many times you give this warning and everyone says the system told them there was an error or it didn't take it so they fill out the box again, etc… Have read that SO many times recently, so there seems to be (or was) a bug in the forum software, yet no one from AVG says anything about that (last I looked, it may have been addressed by now).

So it ain't always our fault.
