Potential Scam email

Hi Jovana,

Thank you for the feedback.

I work in the IT industry and we are constantly reminded about Phishing emails., in fact we are test regularly and the things we are taught to watch out for are:

  1. Unsolicited or unexpected emails
  2. Sender doesn't use any personal information such as our name
  3. Contains links that can not be verified without following them (never follow them!)
  4. The email includes a sense of urgency (in this case money will  be taken early from my account if I don't click the link)

This email contained all of the above! - Similar emails, from say a bank, would usually suggest I logon to my Banking App or web portal and then direct me to the relevant section to take an approproate action. - They do not include a link to follow in the email!

As you are an IT Security company I would have expected a similar or higher standard from your company.

Please feel free to pass these comments on to your communications team.

Regards
Laurence

Hello Laurence,

My name is Jovana and I'm with AVG senior support. Firstly please accept my apologies for the delay. This is certainly not the usual response time for us, and we're doing our best to improve it.

Please note that this is a legitimate AVG email regarding our recent change in the billing window to all our customers on Auto-Renewal. In the email itself, you can opt out if you don't wish for AVG to process the charge 30 days in advance. Customers who opt out will remain on the current billing scheme. New subscriptions will all be on the new scheme by default.

I hope this clarifies and helps.
Feel free to write back if you need further help.

All the best,
Jovana

Meanwhile, your patience is very much appreciated. Thank you for understanding in advance!
