Prevent AVG running checks on EXE files I trust

I do a lot of software testing so I often run software which is in alpha or beta and may seem suspicious to AVG as it is unknown to its database. I usually run this software from the desktop and have this folder in my exceptions but still AVG runs its 15 second check and occasionally it decides to block the program.

How can I prevent this happening?

I've already tried repairing AVG and that is not the problem.

Hello Kevin,

Let's have a look at it. Could you share the screenshot http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Create-screenshot of that detection message?

You can submit the sample for analysis using this link: http://www.avg.com/submit-sample .

I'll try and get a screenshot next time, but it's an AVG popup checking an executable. You must know what it loooks like.

I can't see the point in submitting a sample of the program. It isn't just one program doing this, it's anything your database doesn't recognise that might access data in another program. I just want to be able to prevent AVG from checking things where I test software. I understand why AVG thinks it's suspicious but I trust the developers and know it isn't suspicious software.

Kevin, please add the exception directly in AVG Behavioral shield settings. Open AVG > Menu > Settings > Components > Behavior Shield. Click Customize > Exceptions to add it. Click OK to save settings and check if that helps. The only other way is to disable AVG Behavior shield when you test a beta program.

You're most welcome Kevin,
Feel free to contact us again if you need any further assistance.
Cheers,
Alok.

Avinash,
Thank you, much appreciated. I wasn't aware of the exception settings for Behaviour Shield. I've set the location I use for testing as an exception.
