Prevent Receipt of HTML:ExtortMail-HG [Phish]

My wife's Gmail account typically gets a dozen or more of these threats daily.  We use Outlook to manage e-mail.  Although AVG quarantines these threats and I subsequently delete them, that requires a lot of housekeeping.  Is there anything we can do to prevent these threats from getting to her Gmail account?

I can post a screen shot of the AVG Threat Secured message upon request.

Is the threat pop-up displayed solely when attempting to access the Gmail website, or does it appear regardless of the websites you are trying to access?
