Did you receive any threat pop-up notification from AVG? If yes, please share the screenshot of the AVG notification.
Also, please temporarily disable the AVG Internet Security from your PC and check whether you're able to access those websites. If yes, please let us know and reply to this post.

AVG was just updated, and my PC restarted and now I can not reach certain web pages anymore, a whole domain is unreachable, when I have my TorGuard VPN active?! I am running on a windows 10 PC, and this happen regardless of browser, just get this or a variant of it: Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.

it started to work again a few hours ago and I did not really do anything, well I tried to use the avg dns/webshield instead of the vpn one but that did not fix it. So just a rare coincidence with the update and there was something wrong with the cern.ch domain, which was the one I could not access?!
Or maybe there was something wrong with the vpn during that time?! But then why just that domain.
Oh well its working now, and thanks for the quick response.
