I noticed that my previously installed AVG was always saying I wasn't protected. Following advice (somewhere on the internet) I uninstalled AVG, downloaded the installer and ran it.

When it runs I see "Virus definitions download has failed! forbidden".
Running OSX 10.11.6 (15G22010)

My internet connection is working (as you can see).
Any ideas on why this is happening?

Thank you for your quick response.

First, I hadn't used the AVG clear and remover tool to uninstall AVG, because I am on a Mac and I understood these tools were for PCs.

Here is a screenshot of the virus definitions problem.
Thanks for the help.

I do have admin rights on this computer and frequently install new software. I also downloaded the dmg again and experienced the same problems.

Thank you for the update.
Do you choose a different "location" for installing AVG Antivirus in Mac?
If yes, could you leave it to the default location and continue with the installation?
