Hi Jonathan,
For help on your issue please try use AVG Browser Configuration Tool (http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Browser_configuration_tool.exe).
Thanks
Your website offers free AVG Web TuneUp:
http://www.avg.com/us-en/web-tuneup
"Tune up your browser for safer surfing"
"Works on Chrome® and Firefox® for PC"
"Windows XP®, Vista & 7"
My computer has Windows XP SP3.
I use Firefox (28.0) and Chrome (34.0.1847.116 m) browsers.
I have AVG Antivirus Free program. No other antivirus programs installed.
When I've tried to install AVG Web TuneUp (free/beta), I always get an error message, which says it can't install because I have AVG Security Toolbar.
However, my AVG "Product" window indicates that Security Toolbar doesn't come with AVG AV Free:
"AVG Security Toolbar version: N/A"
My computer's Control Panel, "Add or Remove Programs" indicates that I have only AVG Antivirus Free, and not the AVG Security Toolbar installed on my computer.
A complete search of all the files on my computer, using Windows Search, for AVG Security Toolbar (or one or two words of the phrase), comes up negative.
The AVG error message is as follows:
"Incompatible software installed
AVG Web TuneUp is not yet compatible with the AVG toolbar.
Please uninstall the AVG toolbar and try installation again."
Two AVG tech suggested that I reset all of my browsers. However, if my computer doesn't have AVG Security Toolbar installed on it, how can resetting my browsers (and losing all extensions and themes) make it work?
And if it doesn't work, I'm stuck having to try to restore all of my browsers's exts and themes. I've been using these browsers for years!
