Problem since update

Hello Mimi,

We regret for the inconvenience caused.

During the update, you will get a check box to install the AVG Secure Browser.

You might have forgot to uncheck the box during the update. That's why AVG Secure Browser has been installed in your computer.

Does the AVG Secure Browser acts a default program to open the PDF files?

Today I updated AVG. I'm really sorry I did.

The AVG Secure Browser installed and hijacked my preference to use Firefox. Fine; I know how to reset that. Did so, and now any locally saved file I try to open loads 40 zillion tabs in Firefox. And I'm barely even exaggerating! In order to reclaim my PC I had to manually close all those tabs. I retested this by trying to open what I know to be a single-page PDF and, again, BAM! 40 zillion tabs.

What gives? If this isn't a quick fix, can I back out the update? My antique PC can't handle the strain!!

Hello Mimi,

Thank you for letting us know about it. We will look into that update installation file.

If AVG Secure Browser is installed and set as default browser, it will automatically take default of a few other file types (inc PDF). This is the expected behavior.

Glad to know that you have changed the settings manually.
