Problem to start MS Outlook with the avg com (anti4us) add-in

Since installing the most recent update of MS Outlook (dec 24, 2017) I cannot get outlook to start with the avg com add-in (anti4us). It appears that the avg.com add-in causes MS Outlook to crash upon startup. Next MS Outlook disables the AVG add-in after which you can start MS Outlook again (but without the avg.com add-in activated). Rebooting etc. just repeats the afore standing. I now think that  my incoming e-mails are no longer screened for viruses (very undesirable situation). What to do?
