Yesterday evening I had the remote service call. Technician turned https scanning back on and all was working ok, or so it seemed. I turned on my machine this morning and eg linkedin would not load, FB videos would not play ie problem still unresolved. I turned https scanning off and now it all works again. I summise that turning https scanning on requires a reboot, and if you were just going to test those conditions I should have been told to boot up with it on.

Hello Steven,
Sorry to hear that. Please uninstall and reinstall online shield in AVG Free Antivirus by going to AVG->Antivirus->Menu->Settings->Component->down arrow next to Online shield component->Uninstall component. Then reinstall it and check if it works.
Thank you.
Recently I have been unable to access many webpages (eg LinkedIn will not load) and Facebook, Twitter and various other sites load only after many attempts. The problem exists on two laptops and I have tried using both Firefox and Chrome. Could it be my ISP ? Before calling I tried one last thing, I disabled AVG on both machines and voila, now everything is working fine. I noticed turning off the online shield alone also works. Should I just switch this component off permanently ? Is there a better solution ? Before I use another product can someone at AVG advise if there is an workaround ?
Thank you.

Update: Linkedin.com will not load and facebook is a little erratic (other websites seemed ok but I do not have the time to try too many at the moment), I named those two as they are very popular. My workaround is to disable https scanning under online shield main settings for the time being.
