When I tried to open my AVG Internet Security to do a scan, a message on my screen said ‘Operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a virus’. All my AVG subscription items fail to open with the same message. How is this possible? How can AVG get a virus if it’s supposed to protect my PC from viruses?

AVG is flagging itself? Restart update, or reinstall. If that doesn’t fix it try Safe Mode. Still broken? Contact support.
