Thank you John.
I have now managed to get control of the icons in the bar at the foot of the window.
The RESTART problem is still with me as is the problem of minimising windows.
I should have also mentioned that I saw very little improvement in performance despite having tidied away stacks of temporary files etc etc.Perhaps because I am not fully aware of what the consequences of some actions will be I have tended to be a bit cautious in running some of the options. In this respect a brief glossary of what the actions do might have helped.

Hello, Myles. Could you please post a screenshot of your desktop so that we can learn more about the windows that are on-screen? -John
Using v. 15.0.1001.393 with Cleaning version 3
Vista with Dell Inspiron
This program offers a very impressive list of features for users who are not especialy knowlegeable with the technical details of PC's. While I found it cleaned up a number of issues it has left me with one or two problems:
My computer now suddenly leaves the job its doing and RESTARTS !
Since using the program the bar at the foot of the screen seems to list the quick start items(bottom left hand corner) and the the programs(links) I use (bottom right hand corner ) this is fine BUT in addition to these the middle section of the bar has 8 desktop items which I don't need (they are on the desktop!).Efforts to delete these fail: each deleted item is immediately replaced with another item from the desktop. How can I get rid of these ?
Some of the windows fail to respond to a click to minimise.
For me the concept of the program is great but there do seem to be snags.
Any help on the above would be much appreciated together with general comments of other users .
Thank you

Hi Myles,
In order to analyze it please provide us with http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_SysInfo.exe output (run it after inducing described behavior) using this tool and please add detailed description of issue.
Thanks
