Problems with last two updates

Hi Akash,

I am using AVG Antivirus Free.
Program is: 18.1.3044(build 18.1.3800.0)  - Release date; 12/02/2018

Hope this helps,

Wayne

Good morning Ranjani,
Thanks for the update on the shut down problem. Your earlier reply [Last computer scan status will get changed only if we perform manual scan using "Scan Computer" option. Its a normal / usual behavior added in recent update] intrigues me. What is the supposed advantage, added in a recent update, of ignoring both "Deep Scan" and "Scheduled Scan" such that "Last Scan" does not record them? I have always used "Scheduled Scan" and appreciated it being recorded in "Last Scan". Is there a "log" somewhere within the program that I can access showing me when I last carried out a "Deep Scan" or "Scheduled Scan"?
Fingers crossed,
Wayne

Hi Bhuvaneswari ,
I have tried "repair", "AVG Clear tool" and totally re-installing AVG and none of this has cured the problem(s). Not quite sure how I provide a screenshot of the computer not shutting down after a scan when shutdown has been requested nor the usefulness of a screen shot showing "Last Scan" always appearing in red as "8 hours ago" regardless of the number of scans that I do. Funnily enough the  "Last Scan" after re-installing is now permanently stuck at "Never". My wife has your software on her laptop with the same problems but her "Last Scan" is stuck on "5 months ago" in red. When I raised the issue of my computer not shutting down after a scan in my previous question you asked me to download a package so that you could see the "log"and assured me that your team were working hard to resolve this issue. I would have thought that I was not the only one with this problem and many weeks on I am surprised that you have not found a solution.
Kind Regards,
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

I apologize for the inconvenience caused, this should not be happening.

Could you tell me if which AVG Program have you installed on your computer? Also, let me know that version of the AVG Program installed on your computer.

Wayne, thank you for the information.

I would suggest you use AVG Clear tool (
http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product ) to remove the traces and reinstall AVG Free referring this article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Free

If the issue persists, please provide the screenshot of the AVG Interface to check and escalate the case.

Last update introduced error in computer not shutting down after scheduled scan. Latest update introduces error in "Last computer scan" report and has not fixed the earlier error of computer not shutting down after a scheduled scan. Will this be fixed or is it unique to me?

Hi Bhuvaneswari,

Thank you for your helpful reply. There is, also, a "repair" option. If "repair" cannot sort out a faulty installation what is its purpose?

Kind Regards,

Wayne

Hi Ranjani,
It would seem that you have not read the threads of my last two questions. Yes, I do have the latest version and have tried all the suggestions contained in these threads but my computer still will not shut down after a scheduled scan. This problem with shutdown has only arisen since the last two updates.
Kind Regards,
Wayne

Wayne, I understand how difficult this is for you.

This "Last Computer scan" will update only when you manually scan your computer by clicking on "Computer Scan" from the interface. If you have selected automatic scan or scheduled scan, it will not update the status.

Please run AVG scan by clicking on "Computer Scan" from main interface of AVG Internet Security and let us know the status.

Sorry, Wayne. We are aware of this shutdown issue. We just want to make sure that you have AVG 2018 version.
We have escalated this already and that is being analyzed by our development team so it will be fixed soon. Your patience is much appreciated.

Yes,  you can try the repair first. If the issue persists, you can uninstall and reinstall the product to check the status.

Hi Alok,
Thank you for your helpful reply. I will certainly see if "Feedback" has any impact. Unless I am going mad, older versions of AVG did do that which I am enquiring about.
Kind Regards,
Wayne

Hi Karthikeyan,
I tried this and it worked but running "Deep Scan" does not work. Why does "Deep Scan" not register as a "Last Scan"? Throughout the many years and incarnations of AVG antivirus I have always opted for an overnight scan when I am not using the computer with a shutdown request and this seemed to always be registered in "Last Scan" and the shutdown request actually worked. It is only since the last two updates that I have had problems. Your answer has, I feel, partially explained "Last Scan" in the latest update but has not attempted to address the issue of why shutdown is not happening when requested. Will this shutdown problem be addressed or have we all just got to learn to live with it?
Kind Regards,
Wayne

Wayne,
Thank you for reaching us with your concerns, Last computer scan status will get changed only if we perform manual scan using "Scan Computer" option. Its a normal / usual behavior added in recent update. Deep scan or others scans won't change its status.

Shut down PC after Scan completed option will work for Scheduled Scan. Make sure that you have latest version of AVG 2018 and let us know whether you are facing this shut down issue while performing Scheduled Scan.
