Process aswidsagent.exe consuming memory

Okay, Jo.

Please monitor the situation for 48 hours and let us know its status.

If the issue persists, we will collect logs and escalate the case to our senior team for further assistance.

I don't know the correct way to disable it for my version, as I don't have the same screenshots as described in | AVG. I have AVG Antivirus Free, softwareversion 19.6.3098 (version 19.6.4546.439).

Hello Jo,
Let's have a look at it together.
Please share the screenshot of your CPU usage to look into it.
Have you tried to disable AVG and check with it? If not, refer this https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Disable-AVG-Antivirus article to disable AVG temporarily.
Let us know the exact name and version of product you have installed.

The process aswidsagent.exe is very often consuming my memory, sometimes it uses 3 GB of it! Is there any solution to this problem?

Kind regards,
Jo Lochy

The issue still persists:

Yes, Jo. You're correct. Please monitor the status of the issue. If issue persists, you can go ahead & perform a clean installation of AVG Antivirus.
Thank you for your understanding in advance!

Hi Priyanga,

I didn't re-install AVG Antivirus Free yet, I only uninstalled Spybot S&D.
I think it' s more useful to change just 1 variable and then monitor whether the problem still persists.
If that is the case, I can still perform a re-install of AVG Antivirus Free.
If I would do both, the problem could be fixed but we wouldn't know what solved it.

Okay, Jo. Thank you for the info.
We appreciate your efforts. Sure, you can share the screenshot at your convenient time. We work round the clock.

Hello Ranjani
I will certainly do this (post a screenshot) the next time this happens. I had to stop and restart the according service, just to get control again over my computer.
I'm using AVG Antivirus Free, softwareversion 19.6.3098 (version19.6.4546.439).
I had to stop and restart the according service in the services window on my computer.

I don't know the correct way to disable it for my version, as I don't have the same screenshots as described in | AVG. I have AVG Antivirus Free, softwareversion 19.6.3098 (version 19.6.4546.439).

No problem, Jo.

Do you have any conflicting anitvirus on your computer (if installed)? If yes, we request you to remove it and verify the status.

Reason being, it is generally not recommended to use more than one security solution on a single system. They will compete for resources, which may result in slowdowns, crashes or in no protection at all.

If it continues to be the same, we request you to perform a clean installation which sould resolve the issue.

Use AVG clear tool to uninstall AVG product and its traces as mentioned in this article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=Uninstall-AVG-software-Clear-Remover&supportType=home) .

Refer this link (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Free) for the instructions to re-install AVG AntiVirus free on your PC.

Keep monitoring the status and update the progress here.

Thank you for sharing us the screenshot, Jo. This isn't the usual behavior of AVG.
In this regard, we need to either check & remove any conflicting anitvirus on your computer (if installed) or perform a clean installation of AVG Antivirus.
Before proceed with that, wouild you be so kind to let us know if you've disabled AVG temporarily to check, as our colleague has suggested earlier?

We're sorry to know that, Jo. We need to escalate this to the next level of support. In order to do so, we require few logs from your computer, which will help the concerned team to further investigate on this.
Hence, an email including the steps to collect & upload logs has been sent to you. Please follow those steps to upload the logs.
