I use my PC once a week and noticed that my subscription had expired the day before. Later that day, I paid for the renewal over the phone and when to pull the instructions up in my email. I found that I could no longer open my profile. It had been corrupted somehow and all I got was a black screen with just the recyle icon showing. The toolbar did not react when I clicked on the few items there. This is the second year in a row that the same thing has happed right after the renewal! What do we need to do to get this fixed?
Mark,
It is unfortunate that your account is not working in your PC. I see that you have renewed your AVG Ultimate (1 year subscription), but haven't registered the activation code of the renewed product. Hence your AVG Ultimate (1 year subscription) shows that it has expired on 2018.8.18. The product will get extended only after registering the new activation code AVG Ultimate as per the steps mentioned here . I also saw your case history and our technician has checked the issue with your account. He has requested you to contact Microsoft support team to get it sorted. Have you contacted them previously to get this resolved?

Last year, I had to have some reinstall Windows 10 and in the process I lost many files. I don’t want to go through this again this year. Since it happened twice at the renewal date, the problem should not reside with Microsoft, but with AVG.
I could not log into my computer to get the email and instructions to renew my subscription. The notes you have from support may have been from last year when the same thing happened.
Yes, Mark. Our support team suggested you to contact Microsoft last year.
Are you able to reboot your device in safe mode ( http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-reboot-your-computer-into-Safe-Mode )? Once rebooted, uninstall AVG products via Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Uninstall and check if you could log in to your computer.
