Program freezes

In the last two weeks, I encounter several problems. First, when scanning for viruses the AVG window freeze. I cannot minimize it or close it and I cannot see the program progress.  After a while I receive a windows message: Program does not respond and have to go the end process option.  These problems are unique to this specific computer.
