Program will not run after being processed by AVG

Hello Howard,

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
From your post, we understand that the RSSs program would have been detected as a threat by AVG and since you might have clicked on "Protect me" option from the popup that appeared.
It should work when you have restored the moved file.
We request you to disable AVG Protection temporarily and then reinstall RSSs program.
Once it is installed, please try adding it to the AVG's exception list.
Are you using the free, trial or paid version of AVG?

I have used a program for processing RSSs (RSSOwl) for a few years without problem but today I have a serious problem. While very busy, AVG popped up a message about RSSOwl. I
did not look fully at the message but just let AVG do its work (big
mistake, I now know). After that RSSOwl would not load and stay on my
computer (Windows 10). When looking at Task Manager, I could see RSSOwl
load but, just as quickly, it would disappear. I have tried uninstalling
and reinstalling RSSOwl but this has made no difference. I have disabled
AVG but, again, no difference. It seems that AVG has made a change
somewhere in Windows which is permanent. I found the program in the virus vault and recovered it but it still refuses to run. It loads and then closes.

Has anyone any idea what else I can do to allow this program to run, please?

Thank you for trying it out. If the application is not working even after AVG is disabled, we request you to contact the application vendor once for help.

I had already tried that and received no reply. Since AVG cannot help and the RSSOwl person/people cannot or will not help, I have looked around and found a slightly better RSS program that works (QuiteRSS). It would have been nice to know what caused this problem but it has now forced me into using a better program. Thanks, once again, for all your help.

We understand that you are trying to contact the concern support. We are sorry, we have cross checked with the issue by disable AVG but the issue persists. It clearly shows that the issue is not related with AVG. Unfortunately, we couldn't able to assist you further as we are not sure about the settings included in that applications. Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for the reply. I have tried that and it has not worked. RSSOwl still refused to run. It loads the splash screen and then closes.

I am using Internet Security Unlimited.
