Protected, or not?

In the first image, AVG-1, when I click on the icon on the main screen, the hour glass tells me its trying to open or do something, but nothing happens. In the other image, when I open the available icons on the lower right, a X appears over the AVG logo. When I ran a diagnostic using Microsoft's defender, it indicate a conflict of sorts. ANy thoughts? It sure looks like AVG isnt working. Thanks!

Hi Rob.
We're here to help.
Do you see the 'X' on AVG system tray icon? Are you able to open AVG user interface by clicking the tray icon?
Please reboot your PC, wait for the tray icon to load and then open AVG.

The AVG icon is in my Hidden Icons, but has a X over it and says You Are Unprotected. Everything seems to be on, and I scanned my system, but when I try to open AVG from my Start page, nothing happens. I'm using Windows 10. Is everything alright? We suspected some malware might be on our system, if true, could this problem be part of it?

Yes, that worked. Thank you!
