Protecting windows xp pr0 SP3 32 bit and Vista 32 bit

Hello Bill,

I will help you with the necessary information.

Even though, AVG installed on Windows XP or Windows Vista does not get any product update, it will still receive the virus definitions update.

This version of AVG does not require a program update because Windows XP and Windows Vista does not receive any new update from Windows.

So, having the same version of AVG will not create a new bug or issue with AVG.

my question to you folks is this: what earthly good does it do to protect windows xp with virus updates when you state the you no longer provide program updates or Bug fixes? new definitions are only good if they work, and the fixes are for the bugs that are now being injected into the programs. Those of us that use windows xp daily for non business purposes still need to have protection from bugs that some or most of the virus updates don't or won't take care of or remove. So again , i ask, if the program doesn't get updated in XP, and there are no new bug fixes, why are we using a program that is basically useless as far as actual protection goes? We expect this sort of rubbish from Microsoft, it is and always has been their motis operandi, they care nothing for their customers or their opinions nor have they ever. But one would expect more from AVG. If you are going to support XP and or Vista, than please make the program have the ability to update and include bug fixes as they come along so that it actually protects the systems as it always did before Microsoft decided to shaft us all. thank you , and YES, i would expect a real answer not some garble designed to pacify the masses.  billhuffsr@live.com

The only thing I will is stop this abonnement notting more.

Thank you for your valuable time.

Yes, I agree with you. Windows does release security patch updates for Windows XP and Vista. It does not release any more major updates.

AVG does protect your computer again latest threat in Windows XP and Vista. We continue to provide full protection for these OS.

Thank you for your reply Karthi keyan , But i get updates in this XP media center pc several times a week both from Microsoft and from certain hardware vendors as well. In fact, i just re-installed XP pro in an older dell for a lady last week and automatic updates installed over 197 windows updates, and over 14 hardware updates as well. The Myth that XP and Vista do not receive any more updates is just that , a myth ! what you can't do successfully any longer is re-install windows Vista all versions with the OEM license as Microsoft has deleted the ability to type in the license key and have it activate the unit. it just goes on and on endlessly forever . you can also no longer run the Genuine advantage tool in vista or xp. The link has been blocked by the proverbial" this application is not a windows 32 application and can not run on this pc"  so with that said, that is why i wrote to question whether or not these xp and vista machines really are protected with jus definition updates and no new bug fixes or program updates. Ive been building and repairing computers now for 31 years, and i know for a fact that half of what Microsoft would have us believe is a load of hog wash, same with most of the manufacturers when the tell us that certain pc's cant run windows 7 or 8-8.1 because of < < < < < < < and that line also goes on endlessly when in fact 2/3 of the older units from 2005 on up will run windows 7 perfectly fine if you install it correctly and the right editions. Anyway, thank you for your eply. I will keep on using AVG until i find it isn't protecting the system anymore, then i will have to hunt for or come up with another solution. thank you again and have a very nice day ! Bill Huff Sr.
