my avg protection pro will not open. Just stays orange.

I have the free version, I downloaded it after my computer was spammed with pop up ads.  It looks like I have been hit by DNS unlocker.  The scan doesn't pick it up and I am unable to locate it on the control panel add/delete programs. I was able to open protection pro and update and rescan but still have problem
